Dallas Wind Symphony Announces Its Annual Call For The Fanfares!

For the past ten seasons, the Dallas Wind Symphony has established a tradition of performing brass fanfares 15 minutes prior to curtain in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas. Our patrons eagerly gather in the lobby to hear these fanfares, which have become an important part of the concert experience.

Composers are to submit their unpublished fanfares by mail to the address below by July 16, 2010. Fanfares should be no longer than two (2) minutes.

Seven fanfares will be selected by a committee.

Winning entries will receive:
• A live performance in the Meyerson foyer prior to a Dallas Wind Symphony subscription concert during the 2010-2011 season;
• Your name and fanfare title credited in the DWS printed concert program;
• Recognition from the stage during the concert by DWS founder Kim Campbell;Your name and fanfare title listed and archived on the
DWS website;
• Publishing, sales and marketing services from Lovebird Music www.lovebirdmusic.com

Submissions must be postmarked by July 16th, 2010. Your submission should include unpublished scores, complete parts, sound files and/or recordings to: 2010 Call for Fanfares, Dallas Wind Symphony, PO BOX 595026, Dallas, TX 75359-5026

Special consideration must be factored in regarding the venue where these fanfares are performed. The Meyerson Symphony Center lobby is a large, voluminous space with marble and other acoustically reflective surfaces. Reverberant ring lasts approximately two seconds.

The maximum ensemble of musicians is: 6 Trumpet, 5 Horn, 3 Trombone, 2 Euphonium, 2 Tuba. * Percussion not required. If used, must not exceed 3 players, and instrumentation can only include snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, suspended cymbal and no more than 2 timpani.

Please include complete contact information with your submission, including your full name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone. You may address any questions to the DWS by calling 214-565-9463
