| Dan Welcher is
gaining recognition as one of the most original and exciting
contemporary American composers. He is currently on the
composition faculty of the University of Texas at Austin and is an
active conductor and proponent of new music.
He has performed professionally as Principal Bassoon of the Louisville orchestra, and has been Composer-in-Residence with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. Welcher's compositions, which span a range of genres from orchestral to chamber music, include an opera as well as music for solo piano.
